The Position
The Programme Assistant provides programmatic support in the planning and implementation of UNFPA work plans, as part of both country-specific and regional-level activities.
How You Can Make a Difference
The Programme Assistant contributes to the achievement of the UNFPA mandate as part of a team and provides programme, administrative and financial support in the office in implementation of the UNFPA Country Programme, including in humanitarian settings. The Programme Assistant reports to the SRH/Youth Programme Analyst.

You will work with an inter-disciplinary team contributing to:
Increased national capacity to formulate and implement rights-based policies on integrated SRH services;
Strengthened national capacity to incorporate adolescents and youth and their human rights and needs in laws, policies and programmes, and
Strengthened national capacity to formulate and monitor implementation of rights-based policies that integrate evidence on population dynamics and their links to sustainable development.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities
You Would Be Responsible For:
- Assisting with arranging programme activities, including but not limited to: entering work plans in the UNFPA templates and corporate software, drafting and reviewing periodic narrative and financial reports and other
- Organizing programme events (selection of venue, preparing meeting minutes, assisting in the development of relevant background materials, presentations, concept notes and proposals)
- Supporting the programme-related procurement of services/goods in accordance with UNFPA Procurement Procedures
- Contributing to the preparation of programme and financial reports
- Maintaining of electronic and hard copy records related to the programme
- Performing various support functions relevant for the programme activities
- Providing logistical, administrative and secretarial support in emergencies, as member of the UNFPA Country Office preparedness and crisis response team
Qualifications and Experience

Your Education
Completed secondary level of education is required. First level university degree desirable.
Your Experience
Minimum 5 years (with secondary education) or minimum 3 years (with Bachelor Degree) of progressively responsible administrative or project experience.
Experience in areas related to UNFPA mandate will be considered strong asset
Previous experience in the UN or other international development organizations is an asset
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Computer literacy with standard Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Previous experience with Atlas/PeopleSoft or other ERP application is an asset
Good writing and communications skills
Languages: Fluency in English is required.
