The Minister of Health Mr. Venko Filipche and the UNFPA Country Director Mrs Doina Bologa today in Skopje signed an Agreement for a mutual contribution for implementing the measures for reducing maternal and neonatal mortality in the country.
“Good outcomes for mothers and their children affect the whole of society. If we are to achieve national development priorities, we have to ensure the rights to health“, said UNFPA Deputy Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Ian McFarlane, who addressed on behalf of UN Population Fund.Under this Agreement around five million denars will be invested, out of which half is a contribution of the Government and other half from UNFPA is in line with the Country Program Document 2016-2020 as one of the key priority on national level.
“For the first time in our country and the region, the Government contributes in UNFPA which is a motive for future cooperation in terms of health care“, said the Minister of Health Mr. Venko Filipche.
Maternal is closely related to neonatal health and therefore the multidisciplinary approach is needed towards addressing this matter.
