Skopje, 21 September - An Expert Mission for technical support to the State Statistical Office for enhancing the population statistic, including the census, supported by UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, took place during 17th and 21st of September 2018.

An international expert for population and census, Werner Haug, led the Mission and the other members were the State Statistical Office Director Apostol Simovski, UNFPA Country Representative Doina Bologa and UNFPA Assistant Representative Sonja Tanevska.

The aim of the international expert’s visit was to inform the relevant representatives in the country and technical support for strengthening the national capacities for population data collection, analysis, dissemination and use for policy development.

The State Statistical Office and UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, in July, this year, signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The purpose is to ensure monitoring progress in implementation of national policies and strategies related to social inclusion and reproductive health of adolescents, women and men in the country, and other national and international commitments. This in line with the United Nations Partnership for Sustainable Development for the period 2016-2020 signed between the Government and the United Nations Country Team in the country.
